Sunnyside Up Project under the Yuk Ching Charity Trust proudly marks its tenth academic year, continuing its mission of lighting the path to English proficiency for underprivileged students! This year, the program welcomes S.K.H. Kei Fook Primary School as a new partner school, joining continuing participants Good Counsel Catholic Primary School, St. Charles School, and S.K.H. Kei Wing Primary School, extending its reach to more students in need.

The Sunnyside Up Project aims to significantly enhance the English proficiency of participating students by funding after-school English enhancement classes, strengthening their foundation for securing places in English-medium secondary schools (EMI schools). This year's results are highly encouraging: The vast majority of participating students showed marked improvement in their English grades, demonstrating the program's effectiveness. Notably, at least approximately 60% of the participating Primary 6 graduates successfully gained admission to EMI schools, with individual schools achieving EMI admission rates as high as 80% and even 90%, solid evidence of the project's tangible impact on boosting student competitiveness.

To further motivate students, three new awards were introduced this year to recognize outstanding participants in each grade level:

  • "Most Improvement Award": Honoring students who have shown relentless effort and significant progress.

  • "Best Results Award": Recognizing students with exceptional academic achievement.

  • "Most Positive Award": Celebrating students demonstrating exemplary proactive and enthusiastic learning attitudes.

The Yuk Ching Charity Trust is delighted to witness the Sunnyside Up Project bearing rich fruit after a decade of cultivation. The students' significant strides in English proficiency and their outstanding secondary school placement results serve as the best affirmation of the project's vision and implementation. The Trust remains committed to collaborating with all partner schools to create high-quality English learning opportunities for underprivileged children, empowering them to open doors to broader educational and future prospects.
