On 13-14 Oct 2007, members of Yuk Ching Charity Trust ("the Yuk Ching Charity") and Crystal's representatives visited the ecological center and ophthalmology clinic of Green Action Charity Foundation ("the Foundation") and observed their eye cataract operations conducted at Qinyuan in Dongshan.
The eye cataract operation procedures for each patient will take 3 days:
• Day 1 – HK doctors, volunteer nurses and helpers will register and conduct basic medical checking
• Day 2 – volunteer ophthalmologists from PRC hospital will conduct eye cataract operations
• Day 3 – nurses will conduct after-operation check, then the patient can go back to home accompanied by their relative
After such visit, members of the Yuk Ching Charity have more understanding on the Foundation's mission and their contribution on providing free eye cataract operation for the poor and elderly patients.
To show our care of the poor, the Yuk Ching Charity has signed a cooperation memorandum with the Foundation. We will sponsor the coming Eye Cataract Operation Event at Mei Yuan Kiu Ban Kiu Eye Clinic on 2-7 April 2008. The coming Eye Cataract Operation Event will be organized and supervised by the Foundation and 60-70 eye cataract operations will be performed to restore the eye sights of the poor and elderly patients in Mei Yuan and its surrounding areas.
Our donation for one eye operation of each patient covers cost of one crystal eye cell, medicines, meals and accommodation (for the patient and one accompanying relative), transportation to the clinic (for those patients in remote areas and one accompanying relative).
Members of The Yuk Ching Charity and management of Crystal Group will attend the Eye Cataract Operation Event on 5-6 April 2008 to gain first hand knowledge and experience of the coming Operation at Mei Yuan.
Next Eye Operation Event in Dong Shan – The Yuk Ching Charity intends to wholly sponsor the Foundation's next Eye (Cataract) Operation Event at Qing Yuan Dong Shan Eye Clinic on 9-15 Oct 2008. The next Operation Event will then perform about 100 eye operations.
