"Charity Begins at Home 2018" aims to promote mutual help of the society. A total of 200 volunteers from the Crystal International Volunteer team and other organizations visited the Kai Tin Estate and Lam Tin Estate altogether on 1st December, sending gift packages to 300 solitary elders, and spreading the message of inclusive society.
The event is organised by the Incorporated trustees of Yuk Ching Charity Trust ("The YCCT") and co-organised by the Hong Kong Housing Publicity. Volunteer groups includes the Crystal International Volunteer Team, Care and Concern Action, Gliding Children, Retired Police Unit, Nam Wah Catholic Secondary School, 1600 Pandas Volunteer Team and Agency for Volunteer Service. We expressed our gratitude to the Hong Kong Housing Authority for the assistance, especially to Ms. Chan Lai Fong, elderly warden of Kai Tin Estate, provided her valuable advice on the co-ordination of the event, in which the event could be carried out more smoothly. In addition, we were very grateful to the volunteers for their selfless dedication. Starting from the preparation, contact to logistic arrangement, they put efforts in every single detail. The volunteer team visited the solitary elderly one by one, which made the elders feeling the warmth.
