【Hong Kong】Yuk Ching Charity Trust Sponsors Hot Meal Distribution in Sham Shui Po

Yuk Ching Charity Trust has long been committed to supporting elderly people in need and working with local partners to provide practical assistance to the community.

The Trust learned that, since the beginning of 2026, CHI YUN CHAN Restaurant has been funding and organising a weekly meal distribution every Wednesday. During each session, the restaurant provides 52 complimentary hot meals to people aged 60 or above in need in Sham Shui Po. Recognising the value of this meaningful community initiative, the Trust approached the restaurant and offered sponsorship to support and expand the service.

Beginning in August 2026, the Trust sponsored an additional meal distribution every Friday at 6:00 p.m., providing 52 hot meals on each occasion. To further respond to the needs of elderly residents in the district, the Trust expanded its sponsorship in September by adding another weekly distribution on Mondays, with 52 meals provided each time.

Together with the restaurant’s self-funded Wednesday service, hot meals are now distributed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, providing a total of 156 meals each week. The Monday and Friday distributions are sponsored by the Yuk Ching Charity Trust, while the Wednesday distribution continues to be funded by Nourishing Station Restaurant.

Following the launch of the sponsorship, the Trust’s Chairman and trustees also took part in the meal distributions on different occasions. Working alongside the restaurant team, they personally handed freshly prepared meals to elderly participants and spoke with them to better understand their daily lives and practical needs. Their participation enabled the Trust to gain a deeper understanding of the local community while conveying genuine care and companionship to the elderly.

A hot meal may appear simple, but for an elderly person in need, it can provide meaningful and comforting support. Through this regular meal distribution service, the Trust hopes that elderly residents can enjoy freshly prepared food while also feeling the care and warmth of the community.

The Yuk Ching Charity Trust sincerely thanks Nourishing Station Restaurant for its dedication to serving the community and for its support in delivering the programme. The Trust will continue to work closely with local partners, turning care into sustained and practical action so that warmth and support can continue to reach elderly people in need.
