【Rainbow Project】Review of the 2024/25 School Year Student Achievements and New Student Interviews

The Rainbow Project is dedicated to providing English tutoring subsidies for underprivileged students, helping them effectively improve their English proficiency. Since its launch, the project has delivered remarkable results, with participating students showing clear progress in English.

In August and September this year, trustees of the Yuk Ching Charity Trust visited five participating secondary schools to meet beneficiaries face-to-face. Through these conversations, the trustees learned that students not only make good use of the subsidies to enroll in external tutoring classes, but also cultivate self-discipline and a diligent learning attitude in the process. Some Form 6 graduates even returned to their schools to share exam preparation experiences with younger peers in the Rainbow Project. They agreed that the project provided crucial support for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE), while emphasizing that consistent daily effort in English studies is fundamental to achieving breakthroughs.

Among the 33 Form 6 students participating in the project in the 2024/25 academic year:

  • 100% (33 students) attained Level 2 or above (a pass) in DSE English, including 9 students (27%) who achieved Level 3
  • 10 students (30%) were admitted to bachelor’s degree programmes
  • 15 students (45%) advanced to associate degree programmes
  • 6 students (18%) advanced to higher diploma programmes
  • The remaining students chose to retake Form 6 or pursue studies overseas

The Yuk Ching Charity Trust will continue to advance the Rainbow Project, aiming to support more students in need to achieve significant progress in English learning and broaden their pathways for further studies and future development.
