The Rainbow Project aims to provide financial assistance for English tutoring to underprivileged students, helping them improve their English proficiency. The program has shown significant results, with most participating students demonstrating noticeable progress in their English studies.
In August of this year, trustees of the YCCT visited five participating secondary schools to engage in face-to-face discussions with the beneficiaries. Through these interactions, they learned that students who had participated in the program for a year or more not only benefited from the financial support to attend external tutoring classes but also developed a sense of self-discipline and a strong work ethic. Sixth-form students shared that the Rainbow Project was instrumental in their preparation for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (DSE) examinations; however, they emphasized that their diligent efforts were ultimately the most crucial factor.
Among the 27 sixth-form students participating in the program this year,
25 students (92.6%) achieved a second-class grade or above in the English subject of the DSE (pass).
Of these, 13 students (48.1%) received a third-class grade, and 2 students (7.4%) received a fourth-class grade.
Additionally, 14 students (51.9%) are advancing to bachelor's degree programs, 5 students (18.5%) to associate degree programs, and 4 students (14.8%) to higher diploma programs.
YCCT expressed its commitment to continue promoting the Rainbow Project to support more students in need in making significant strides in their English learning.
