Island School students will participate in a 15-week volunteer service program. They will visit the Yuk Ching Charity Foundation Yau Tong Ko Yee Estate Elderly Support Center every Tuesday afternoon to assist the center in distributing care packages to local seniors.
Throughout their involvement in volunteer service, we hope that students will become aware of their responsibility to the community and begin to care for the needs of others.
In assisting at the elderly support center, they will need to collaborate with other volunteers and staff, working together as a team.
While interacting with seniors, they will learn to improve their communication skills, including listening, expressing themselves, and understanding others' needs.
By engaging with seniors in the community, they can cultivate empathy, understanding various perspectives, and showing consideration for the situations and needs of others.
Facing different situations and challenges, they will develop problem-solving skills.
During their weekly volunteer service, students will need to effectively manage their time to ensure tasks are completed while balancing academic and other activities.
In conclusion, students will have the opportunity to cultivate valuable skills and values through practical experience, which will contribute to their future growth and development.
