As the 2023/24 academic year draws to a close, YCCT has sponsored the "Student Leap Performance Incentive Program" for eight consecutive years, held an award ceremony on May 18th.
The purpose of the Students Leap Forward Award Scheme is to focus on students in Hong Kong who strive to learn but achieve average grades and lack teaching support. This scheme also aims to benefit students from different districts in Hong Kong. In addition to sponsoring students from Yuen Long, North District, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Tsing, Kwun Tong, Tai Po, Tuen Mun, Sha Tin, and Sham Shui Po in the past, this year it collaborated with the Kowloon City district to provide scholarships to students in the area, recognizing their remarkable performance in academic, character, sports, arts, and service aspects within their schools.
During this academic year, YCCT actively collaborated with the Kowloon City Middle Secondary School Heads Association and the Primary School Heads Association in the preparation work for the program. With the efforts of principals from secondary schools, primary schools, and special schools in the district, a total of 379 student applications from 66 schools were received. After a careful review by the Education Commission, all students successfully obtained scholarships.
The award ceremony took place at New Asia Middle School on May 18th, with approximately 500 attendees, including the award-winning students, principals, teachers, and parents. Representatives of the YCCT attended the ceremony to personally encourage the award-winning students and share the joy with them and their parents.
This year, a library venue was specially set up for award-winning students from special schools with mobility difficulties, allowing students with special needs to participate in the award ceremony smoothly and receive recognition.
