Under the influence of social incidents and COVID-19, the annual “Charity Begins at Home” event had been suspended for 2 years. This year, the event was successfully organized by Yuk Ching Charity Trust and co-organized by Yan Oi Tong Woo Chung District Elderly Community Centre on 27th November.100 volunteers distributed gift packs to 400 elderly in need, who live in Tuen Mun San Hui, On Ting Estate and Yau Oi Estate.
These volunteers were from Crystal Volunteer Team, Agency for Volunteer Service, Island Harbourview Volunteer Team, Nam Wah Catholic Secondary School, Ho Ngai College (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen) and All Saints’ Middle School. Volunteers visited each elderly at the doorstep, expressed their care through chats and handed gift packs to each elderly. We hope that all the elderly could feel the warmth in this event.
We were very thankful for Yan Oi Tong Woo Chung District Elderly Community Centre and all the volunteers. With their support, the elderly not only received food and resources, but more importantly, had a feeling of being cared.
